In celebration of the first episode of the second season of the episodic series on the life of Christ The Chosen being released on Easter Sunday, I am publishing my review of it again. If you haven’t seen the first season, well, what are you waiting for? Do yourself a favor, and binge watch this wonderful show. No need for a “cheesey-Christian-content” alert. This show is the real deal.
An ambassador represents his king and country. And our King commands us to love, because our Country has love as its very air. What defines a Christian, the thing that makes us look different, must be love.
Coming to God means turning to him in prayer, in Scripture, and in obedience and submission. It is a quiet resolve, a conscious, Spirit-compelled choice to turn our thoughts to him and away from our troubles.

The Bible teaches virtue in the context of acquiring the very mind of its author, Jesus Christ.
Returning to a guileless profession of faith can act as a reset when you are doubting the goodness or even the presence and love of God. Or when you just need a simple reminder of who God is and how much he loves you.
For schools and families, wondering what the upcoming school year will look like is the very definition of uncertainty.

Today is Good Friday. I have a great hope, in fact it is a bigger hope than that of the end to this pandemic, that the enormity and unprecedented scope of this crisis, and the fear and uncertainty that accompany it, will cause this Easter week to become more than just a religious celebration. My prayer is that the world will wake to the reality of the existence of God, the seriousness of sin, and the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Chosen is a new binge-able film adaptation of the Bible that is not only true to the book, but is a joy to watch.
Could it be the profound truths of Scripture have become so familiar we are dulled to their profundity? If so, what can be done to cultivate wonder over the things of God, causing “amazement to seize” us, leading us to cry, like the people who witnessed Jesus healing the paralytic in Luke 5:26, “We have seen extraordinary things today?”
Following Christ is hard. So, taking my cue from the Psalms, I will offer four reasons, in the form of lament, why falling away is tempting, followed by four reasons why leaving Christianity, difficult as it sometimes is, is not an option.

When we feel discouraged as believers, when we tire of swimming against the current of culture, we turn to God’s word for reminders of his omnipresence and sovereignty, and of our glorious future as citizens of heaven.
When I am tempted to succumb to feelings of worthlessness, inadequacy, and self-doubt, I train my mind on God’s word, which is filled with weak, foolish people who became chosen champions for Christ.
